Integration at its best

The opportunity for renewal, expansion or moving to a new campus/structure in the organization is the dream of every client and sometimes the resources do exist for this and not a few of them to realize the move in a big way.

At the same time, not every client really understands all the meanings and that an event of this type requires a lot of attention, therefore the manner of managing the project that fell in front of him and his ability to contain the event and connect all the ends together with the management of the project is impossible to the point of impossible!

In light of this, it was important for me in this article to sharpen the importance of appointing a project manager on the client's side (not the first employee/manager who chanced upon the corridor...) who will know how to carry out the "integration" in God's knowledge and to understand that apart from dealing with the seemingly central leg that is the "engineering and infrastructure" structure The classic, that is, there are a number of additional critical legs that require high attention to make the project a successful, effective and above all functional project for the end users.

First, let's understand the value of performing optimal integration - integration is the overall management of processes and activities to identify, define, integrate, unify and coordinate all the factors that affect the project, from the end user to the municipality official...

Managing the integration in the project means making decisions regarding the allocation of resources, weighing alternatives and goals and managing the interdependencies between the knowledge areas of project management. The processes of the project procedure are often presented as separate processes with defined interfaces, but in practice, they overlap and there are mutual relationships between them that cannot always be detailed in one guide or another, therefore intervention and connection between all the factors is required for the ongoing management of the project.

A client who is faced with a large project and is, as mentioned, busy managing content worlds different from construction and infrastructure operations, will often find himself dealing with the engineering and infrastructure leg and will not pay attention to two other critical legs in the world of project management, which are the leg that consolidates the work processes and perceptions and the leg of managing the effectiveness and efficiency in the project, which should be directly connected for the decisions made in the engineering leg. The understanding that the three legs are intertwined and that every decision-making axis in each leg affects the other is what will make the difference between a mediocre project and a successful one! This is usually the point where there is a disconnect in the project, where the client does not find a connection between the dream (characterization) and the reality on the ground and most likely will not find an effective functional connection between the beautiful new campus/building and the needs of the end users.

From this it can necessarily be concluded that a project manager is required on the client's side throughout the life of the project, who will be able to bring holistic added value and who will be able to understand the world of concepts in construction and infrastructure on the one hand but on the other hand will understand the future structure of life in the building and thus be able to make a direct analogy between what will be in the future and the characterization and planning which are sometimes carried out a decade before!

Integration at its best:

It is the ability to create an integrative network between the network of influencing factors in terms of "engineering and infrastructure" and the network of influencing factors in terms of "concepts and processes" and the network of influencing factors in terms of "efficiency and effectiveness" of project management. As soon as it is possible to look at the three circles together and connect them, then an optimal integration will be possible which will produce unification, consolidation, communication and the taking of integration actions essential for the controlled execution of the project until its completion and the successful management of the views of the interested parties and meeting the requirements.
